Good morning,
Trump Court Ruling
Why is a former President trying to block a congressional investigation into the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol, arguing in the U.S. courts, his conversations and actions leading up to a riot that killed 5 people, is protected by executive privilege? It’s monstrous say critics.
I think most people will see the mere attempt to block the investigation by former President Trump as unethical, and many think an attempt at cover up, and an obvious move to stop us from ever seeing the truth about what his involvement might have been in the lead up to the riot.
And the truth about how he stayed in the White House apparently with glee over the storming of the Capitol, while fielding calls from lawmakers demanding he call it all off, is a historic and scandalous moment in his Presidency
Last night a Federal Judge ruled against Trump, declaring Congress’s constitutional oversight takes priority over Mr. Trump’s residual secrecy powers. And the Judge took into account that current President Biden, agreed that lawmakers investigating the Jan. 6 riot should see the files.
Trump will appeal the case, rather than let the nation see the truth. But his intentions cloaked in “protecting executive privilege” are obvious to anyone, that he wants to hide the truth because it is so jarring.
Belarus and Poland
Months ago after Europe took sanctions against Belarus’ leader Lukashenko, over his highjacking of an aircraft over Belarus to detain a journalist, and more sanctions because of his illegal jailing of opposition members who have been jailed and tortured, Lukashenko made threats to Europe;
Lukashenko said in May 'We used to stop the drugs & migrants. Now you'll have to catch them yourselves'
In June he added'You launched a hybrid war vs us & demand we protect you like before?'
He was laying the ground work for the current crisis on the Polish border, where he has weaponized migrants, trying to flood Poland and Europe with refugees. The scenes are dramatic as Polish police teargas and force back people, who are being used by Lukashenko to destabilize Europes borders.
Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has now accused Russian President Puton of creating the border crisis. He said that Belarus's authoritarian leader, a close ally of Mr Putin, is orchestrating the crisis, but "it has its mastermind in Moscow".
At least 2,000 migrants are stuck at the border in freezing conditions. And many European leaders are calling out Lukashenko for playing the crisis, and even Germany has called for more sanctions now.
Covid Europe and Nuclear
Europe is witnessing dramatic signs of a fifth wave of Covid and leaders are trying to head off possible lockdowns as cases quickly escalate. French President Macron made a nation wide TV address last night because Covid rates have risen 40% in one week in France, and hospitalizations are increasing.
Macron announced Covid booster shots for 50 to 64 yr olds, mask mandates for elementary schools, and called on those who have not had the vaccines to get them now.
In the same address, Macron who has returned from the Glasgow COP26 environmental conference, announced to reduce it’s carbon emissions France will start building nuclear power plants again.
"To guarantee France's energy independence and achieve our objectives, in particular carbon neutrality in 2050, we will for the first time in decades relaunch the construction of nuclear reactors in our country," he said.

Re: Trump. I think that the time has come for people to stop being outraged by what this former President has done and continues to do. The time has come to formulate forceful and meaningful responses to his obstructionist actions and a good start would be for Steve Bannon to be held in contempt and for Attorney General Merrick Garland to move forward with a successful prosecution. As long as people like Bannon think that they can thumb their nose at the administration and the justice system then it will not only continue but will embolden others to do the same.
